Artificial mica
Artificial or synthetic mica is a compound which is a result of substitution of hydroxyls (OH) inside a crystal lattice for fluorine atoms. It is this factor that defines high heat resistance of a material that retains its dielectric qualities. This compound is called fluorinephlogopite. It is a representative of laminated silicate class and refers to trioctaedriс micas. Chemical formula: KMg3(Si3AlO10)F2.

Artificial mica properties can be controlled in a way due to different isomorphous substitution in its structure.

Fluorinephlogopite is a unique material that has a rare combination of such technical properties as high thermal resistance (up to 950?C), resistance to abrupt temperature difference, transparency in the wide range of light spectrum, insignificant gas separation at high temperatures inside vacuum, low dielectric losses, high volume and surface resistance, ability to retain its insulation properties when radiation and so on.

High optical properties of artificial mica are of great importance when using fluorinephlogopite crystals in special optical devices, heat-resistant and vibration-proof light filters, photoresistors, multipliers and so on. Fluorinephlogopite plates are optically neutral.

Shredded mica with its particles equal to 28 ?m is used as a heat-resistant or reinforcing filler for electric insulating materials. Moreover, the highest product purity, rich white colour and particle sizes contribute to using the mica as a lacquer, paint and plastic filler.
